Community Care Fellowship - Affordable Residences

The Community Care Fellowship, a program of Community Care Boston, supports graduate students and emerging professionals through the provision of affordable housing options paired with structured volunteer placements. Fellows live together in a... supportive interdisciplinary environment while contributing their talents to grassroots initiatives across Boston. Through this model, they gain hands-on leadership experience in social justice, public health, education, and community development, while also strengthening local organizations. By combining housing stability with meaningful service, the Fellowship cultivates the next generation of changemakers who will carry forward the legacy of community-based care.

Housing Location:
The Community Care Fellowship operates from two houses in Jamaica Plain- one on Perkins Street and one on Saint John Street. Both are close to Jamaica Pond, the Emerald Necklace park system, public transportation, and other city attractions.

Current vacancies are at 39 Saint John Street in an apartment with 3 bedrooms and one bathroom.

Interdisciplinary Dialogue:
This program will allow students to form bonds and to integrate with other disciplines in order to advance sustainable communities. Community Care will host meetings and events to foster these exchanges and create an environment for interdisciplinary dialogue. This will also provide space for participants to discuss their volunteer work. We anticipate this being 1 hour per week.

Community-Based Volunteer Experience:
Students will work with Fellos and staff to create a tailored volunteer experience with one of Community Service Care’s partner programs. We anticipate this being 4 hours per week, ideally in-person with the program of choice.

The Commitment:
5 hours per week for volunteerism and meetings

$900 Fellowship fee per month, per room, which includes: a bedroom in a house with a large kitchen, common room, and dining room. Utilities and internet access are included.

You must maintain the academic or employment status that you

Rooms are available starting in July 2025. We are happy to accommodate an August or September move in.
